How can I lose body fat without losing weight?

I am 5″6 and 118 pounds. I’m happy with my weight but my body fat is too high at 23% – I also have a very large waist. I’d like to lose some of my body fat but don’t want to lose a lot of weight. Any diet/exercise ideas?

    you have to work out and go to the gym.. carrying weights would make you lose body fat but gain muscles in that case you dont lose any weight. diet would also help. good luck.

    youhave to have a strigent diet and exercise routine. Naturally if you lose body fat you will lose weight also however you can compensate by adding muscle. So do some cardio-vascular exercises at an inensity equal to 60-70% of your max heart rate and do some power/weight training. That way youll melt the fat faster and you will not lose the weight. Hope that makes sense

    Dont burn yourself out as it just burns carbs and proteins not fat. Fat is burnt only when you do simple tasks, sprinting and heavy lifting etc will use carbs and proteins not lipids.

    Weight lifting will help build muscle. Cardiovascular exercise (like running, biking, swimming) will burn fat. Muscle weighs more than fat. So, you can still be 118 lbs in muscle but not in fat…. Oh, and if you start to weight lift, make sure you are getting adequate intake of protein to build those new muscles.

    ummm you cant take something away without removing something. meaning you cant lose FAT without losing WEIGHT kuz FAT is WEIGHT. ha. im smaret

    Over the short term, you’ll need to start with cardio exercise (30-60 minutes, 3-4 times per week) while reducing your caloric intake… but not too drastically! Remember that your body’s metabolism will slow down if you cut too many calories. It is important to eat a good healthy diet that’s balanced in nutrition (you don’t want your body to think it’s starving — our caveman survival system means that our bodies will break down muscle tissue while holding on to emergency fat deposits if calories are cut too much). It might take a few weeks, but continue on this program until you start to feel a difference in the size of your waist.

    Here’s the secret: Over the mid to long term, you should switch your emphasis over to weight training. As you probably know, muscle is much denser than fat. So you might start wearing clothes that are several sizes smaller even though your weight remains the same.

    Having more muscle has another huge benefit: even at rest, muscle tissue uses up more calories than does fat. With more muscle packed into your body, it will be much easier to keep that fat off.

    Hi there, I’d like to help you out with this ;-) . I wanted to lose about 10-15 pounds, but didn’t want to lose muscle.
